Friends of Hatherley Park was set up to support the park and in particular to raise additional funds for upkeep and development of the park. Work on the children’s playground, the new sculptures and the ponds have all been possible through additional funding that The Friends of Hatherley Park have raised. As council funding is further reduced and the Park Rangers resources are stretched further and further the work of the group becomes more and more important in order to maintain this beautiful community resource.

In 2010 local residents were contacted to become members and pledge their support through a small donation of £5. One hundred and thirty people joined. Other activities to raise funds have included running events such as the Royal Wedding Picnic and Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, Open Gardens and plant sales and in March we are organising another Easter Egg Hunt.

In addition to this funding due to the tireless efforts of Lorna Robson a number of grants have been applied for and secured.
